Details

The purpose of the DIY Street Fair’s Youth Artist Market is to inspire young people to explore their own creativity and artistic voice, to offer a glimpse of entrepreneurship and an introduction to the art fair scene. Young artists will learn about the application and jury process, will need to plan inventory, pricing and table display and have the opportunity to practice customer service skills.

Requirements:

Artists must be in grades 4 - 12 at time of show and reside in Oakland County.

All artwork must be original and made by the artist.

Artists must personally attend their booths and must be present during the entire selling time. Representatives may not attend in place of artists. Tables may not be left unattended.

Artwork must be for sale.

This is an invitation only event.

The following is prohibited:

  • Use of licensed, trademarked or copyrighted characters or names

  • Services such as face painting, hair braiding, nail painting, etc

  • The sale of food or drinks

  • Games involving prize winning or raffles

  • Work made from kits or molds

If invited to participate, no other goods, services, food or drink products may be sold. Only artwork from the student that is consistent with what is in their application may be at the event.

  • Youth artist area is in the Ferndale Library’s outdoor courtyard. Each artist will be assigned to one 6 foot table to display and sell their work. Tent and table are provided.

  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult during the event.

  • Spots are extremely limited.

  • Date(s) available: Saturday, Sept 21 and Sunday Sept 22

  • Hours of Youth Art Fair: 11am-3pm.

  • Students may sign up for one or both dates.

Important info:

Electricity is not provided for this event and no generators allowed.

This event is rain or shine.

Invitation to the event authorizes the use of your name, image and samples of your work for promotion of event.

We reserve the right to cancel your acceptance to the event at any time prior to the show with no further obligation.

Inclement weather - Hours of event (and event program offerings—ie contests, climbing wall, etc) may be adjusted or cancelled due to forces of nature or other occurrences beyond our control for safety purposes. Such changes will not be considered a breach of agreement. Vendor assumes and understands all risks related to an outdoor event including but not limited to weather related challenges.

Vendor is responsible for collecting an reporting any and all applicable taxes.

Vendor is highly encouraged to have a back up individual to take their place on day of event in case of illness, personal emergency, etc.

Event invitation is non transferrable.
